But .. yup, lagu yang dirilis 19 Novemeber silam itu memang bercerita tentang perpisahan.
Meski maknanya multitafsir, Capaldi menyebut ‘Before You Go’ berkaitan dengan bunuh diri.
Dalam wawancara bersama Apple Music Beat’s 1, penyanyi Skotlandia ini mengaku terinspirasi dari pengalaman pahit keluarganya.
Saat Capaldi berusia 5 tahun, tantenya mengakhiri hidupnya sendiri. Kejadian ini lalu membuat keluarganya terjebak dalam penyesalan dan berangan-angan bisa kembali ke masa lalu.
Rasa sakit kehilangan dan penyesalan itu kemudian Capaldi jahit dengan irama bernuansa sendu.
